A lot of Harmrit orders are not for the person clicking PayPal. A son in London wants the canvas to arrive at his parents’ door in Ohio. A sister in Dublin is buying for a brother in Vancouver. The painting still comes from the same China studio. The hard part is not geography. It is who is allowed to decide what their face should look like on a wall they did not order.
This journal note is about that gap. Where portraits are painted, and which countries Harmrit ships to, lives on where portraits are painted and shipped. How long the studio sequence takes lives on how long a portrait takes. What it feels like when the box actually shows up — an illustrative story, not a review — is when the canvas arrives. This page will not rebuild those.
The preview belongs to the person who has to live with the wall
Harmrit uses AI to design a preview so someone can approve direction before artists paint. If you are gifting across an ocean, that “someone” is the awkward question.
If the recipient is happy to be surprised by a *finished* object, they may still not want to be surprised by a *likeness*. A portrait hangs. A wrong expression is not a sweater you can exchange after a polite dinner. When you can, share the preview with them — or with the sibling who actually knows which photo they like. The process is on how the AI preview works. The preview is still not the painting; preview vs final stays the rule.
If they have asked not to be shown, you are choosing for them. That can be kind. It can also be a canvas they will store in a closet. Distance does not make that decision smaller.

Address the house that will keep it
Ship to the recipient when they know it is coming, or when someone in that house can take in a box. Do not send a likeness to a workplace “as a surprise” unless you would do the same in person. An 8×10" gallery-wrapped canvas is a shelf object, not a parcel you want sitting at reception. Size lives on the 8×10" canvas size guide.
Checkout calculates shipping by destination. This page will not invent duties, VAT, or a carrier calendar. If the address is outside the published delivery markets, contact before you treat the gift as settled.

When distance is a reason to wait
- You only have a blurry holiday group photo and cannot ask them for a clearer one without spoiling a surprise that should not have been a portrait in the first place. Photo limits are short: what photos work best and photo requirements.

- The anniversary or birthday is in ten days. Standard orders typically ship within 3–4 weeks from design approval. A note that the painting is underway is the honest gift; the canvas can follow. We already said this for Christmas timing.
- What they needed was a visit, not an object that crossed an ocean without you.
A ToteCraft bag in the same cart would print after pay and travel a different path. That is not this canvas. Bag facts: How ToteCraft works.

What this page will not promise
Harmrit dispatches hand-painted originals from China to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe. Carrier times vary. There is no US warehouse version of the same painting, and no overnight portrait. Refund stages stay on the returns page, not in a shipping story.
This is etiquette for a gift that moves. It is not a customs guide.
