Matching FAQ: Do I need to understand sewing margins or factory templates?
Do You Need Sewing Margins or Factory Templates for a Custom Tote?
TL;DR. No. Every template locks the printable area for you. Your artwork stays inside the print-safe zone automatically, and we send 300 DPI production files to our print partner. You preview on a realistic tote mockup — not a factory cut diagram.
Why this matters
Apparel and bag factories use sewing margins so ink does not land in the stitch. You should not have to read a tech pack to order a gift. Every ToteCraft template locks the printable area so artwork stays inside the print-safe zone automatically.
What “print-safe” means here
- Geometry is locked per tote size — you pick the bag, not a free-form crop onto raw canvas
- Sewing margins sit outside the printable area; you do not drag art into the stitch
- We export 300 DPI production files and send that pack to the print-on-demand partner after payment
What you preview
You preview on a realistic tote mockup, then toggle flat faces to compare front and back. That mockup is a product view, not a factory cut diagram. There is no requirement to understand bleed, notch marks, or 2D garment templates.
What you still choose
Size, 8oz or 12oz canvas, and Front Only versus Front + Back. Those choices change price and which editor you see. They do not unlock a hidden factory drawing you must correct by hand.
What this is not
A locked template is not a substitute for a painted original, and the mockup is not a scan of finished brushwork. ToteCraft is print-on-demand. If you need a hand-painted canvas, use Harmrit Portrait Studio instead.

Yes. Choose the Front + Back variant to generate independent artwork for each side. Front Only hides the back editor and prints the front panel only.
Yes. Attach it in Generate as a reference — AI creates a new tote print and uses an AI credit. Your file is not printed as-is unless you choose Print original as-is, which keeps the pixels and does not use credits. Confirm you have the rights to use the image.
